Principal's Message

I want to welcome you to the Silverthorne Elementary school website!

Here at SVE we have a simple chant that our students recite that I love to hear when we are all together in the gym...

We are....BEAR STRONG!

To us Bear Strong means being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible! If you are ever at our building during an all school assembly, don't be alarmed when you hear the kids enthusiastically shouting this mantra!

At Silverthorne Elementary, our mission is to:

  • Gain high academic achievement through differentiation

  • Collaborate effectively through on-going communication with all stakeholders

  • Respect and honor diversity to promote a global community

  • Develop life-long learners, capable of thinking creatively and acting responsibly

Currently we have 300 students enrolled in PK through 5th grade. We are currently implementing the Dual Language instructional delivery model in Spanish and English starting in Kindergarten through 4th grade this year, and will be increasing one grade level each year until 2022-23.

We began an Outdoor Education component in the fall of 2018 and will be providing wonderful outdoor educational experiences for children all year. Some of the activities include biking, hiking, snowshoeing, ice skating, golfing, and much more!

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The Primary Years Program encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Silverthorne Elementary is proud to be a fully authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP) World School.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our school's website! If you ever want to schedule a time to meet with me or tour the school, please don't hesitate to contact us at 970-368-1600.

Sincerely,

Louise Wacaser

Principal

Located in a Summit County mountain community at an elevation of 8,730 feet above sea level, Silverthorne Elementary School is designed to respond to specific school district goals. The district envisioned a sustainable community-focused school that would provide flexible learning spaces to better serve their high achieving students. The two-story design takes advantage of exceptional views and maintains a compact volume, adding to the building’s energy efficiency. At full capacity, the school can serve 450 students.
